"Baby" is the one horse on the farm that has no price tag. We rescued her from starvation several years ago. When we brought her home she was so weak she could barely step off of the trailer. We were sure she was going to die. She had awful thrush and one of the worst wounds on her hip I've ever seen. On the trailer ride she evidently hit her hip and she did not have enough flesh covering the bone to protect it. The bone was bruised and we ended up with a severely infected puncture wound. She was so thin you could count every bone in her body. We started out feeding her by hand, literally, 10 to 15 times a day. After months of hand feeding and pampering she not only survived but win on to win a few halter classes on the local circuit. Before:
