Maiden gave us a COLORED FILLY out of Skip's last foal crop. She is the spittin' image of her daddy and we couldn't be more pleased! Check out "Just Shy of Easter" to see Maiden's last foal.
Unfortunately we were forced to euthanize Maiden this summer. A sarcoid under her eye suddenly became very invasive and left us with few options for treatment. Due to her age and obviously pain the decision was made to humanely euthanize her, leaving her 2 month old foal an orphan. Fortunately, Maiden's 3 year old filly Sugar was already in love with the baby and took over raising her. With the mental support of her babysitter, Sugar, and the use of Buckeye milk replacer pellets Moon has grown into a healthy and happy weanling who's already winning in the show ring. She's a fitting tribute as a great mare and stallion's last foal crop. Maiden has certainly proven herself to be an excellent producer and is one of my favorite mares. She gave us "Doc's Painted Maiden" in 2003 and in 2004 "Fancy" a stunning bay minimal white filly by the World Champion, Top Speed. "Maiden" is an APHA Red Dun mare. She carries both the Sabino and Frame Overo genes. She is Skipa Star bred and has produced several really nice foals. She is a high color producing mare with an average of 88% color. Maiden is "axe-handle" wide with excellent bone structure and has an excellent disposition to top it off. She stands approx. 15.2-15.3 H.
