 | 5/14/08 - I can't believe it's been over a year since I last updated this
page. Last year found me working double duty as both an exhibitor and office
staff at the East Coast Shows. I'm having a blast maintaining their network,
software and keeping track of the points. Haven't had much time to keep this
site up though, unfortunately. This year I'm concentrating on getting Dollar
broke to ride and drive, and getting him shown. I hope to place him in a show
home and then move onto Sugar as my next project. My ultimate goal is to have
her as my driving horse. Frosty has been turned out to finish growing up for
the time being. Too many horses and not enough time to work them all!
|
 | 4/29/07 - What a terrific show. Lovely weather and a great facility. We
showed at the first East Coast circuit for the year in Williamston. This was
their largest show ever and the halter classes were really deep - probably the
toughest I've ever seen at an open show. Frosty and Lacy did Suzette and I
proud on Saturday when they stood first and second respectively in the open
all-aged mares class out of 13 head. Frosty decided she wasn't in the mood to
lunge nicely that day so we didn't do so well in that class, LOL! Suzette and
Lacy also placed 3rd in the in hand trail. Then on Sunday in the 2 & Under
halter division Frosty and Lacy placed 2nd and 3rd in their class of 12.
Frosty ended the day with a 2 & Under Reserve Championship and Reserve Halter
Highpoint trophy. Lacy picked up several more PAC points for the
weekend, and Frosty earned a record 13 points for her placings. Can't wait for
the next show!
|
 | 4/22/07 - We had a great start to our show season with a Johnston County
show on Sunday. Suzette's yearling Skip filly won her halter class and Frosty
placed 2nd in both of her aged mares classes. Frosty also won the color class
and stood Reserve overall. We also took highpoint for their halter division,
which was a nice surprise. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.
Lacy earned her first PAC points! Frosty picked up another 6 points as well.
|
 | 3/5/07 - Congratulations to Lauren Maddox on her purchase of Just Shy of
Easter. Lauren has big plans for this filly and I'm very excited that she
found such a perfect show home!
|
 | 10/23/06 - Thank goodness show season is over! Boy did it go out with a
bang this year. Suzette and I decided to venture out of our comfort zone and
travel 6.5 hours to Arden NC for the annual POR and Futurity. We took Frosty,
Im Obviously Spotless and Suzette's Skip baby Lacy. Lacy WON the futurity and Just Shy of Easter took 3rd. We were tickled with how
well our "little homegrown" babies did against all the "big boys"!
Frosty had a super go in the lunge line and we ended up with respectable placings in that class
as well. The blankets are packed away
and the lights are turned off. Frosty is now head babysitter for the weanlings
and seems to be enjoying her down time in the pasture.
|
 | 10/10/06 - We finally attended our first APHA show of the year at the
State Fair. Frosty had class wins in Yearling Halter and Yearling Lunge Line.
Suzette's filly Skips Lady N Lace and Im Obviously Spotless and also
showed in the solid paint bred fillies class where they took first and 2nd
respectively. Then Suzette's filly went on to stand GRAND CHAMPION solid paint
bred mares! Plainly Prestigious also made his APHA debut standing Grand
Champion Solid Paint Bred Stallion. Congratulations Suzette!
|
 | 9/25/06 - Whew, the final open show of the year is over! We had a great
weekend at the 2006 Sunnyside Open Horse Show. This show is one of our
favorite as there is always a lot of great horses there. We did very well this
weekend. Frosty won her halter class and stood overall Reserve Grand Champion
of the 2 & Under Division. Just Shy of Easter placed 2nd in her halter class
of all age mares. She's off to a great start in her show career! Skip was also
well-represented with Suzette's baby Skips Lady N Lace who bought home several
ribbons in the halter division.
|
 | 9/16/06 - You've gotta love NC weather this time of year. We had an
absolutely perfect weekend. I decided to be brave, and with the help of
several good friends, hauled 2 weanlings and their babysitter 3 year old filly
to the Johnston County show. The weather was terrific and the babies blessed
me by behaving exceptionally well, especially for their first trip away from
home. The jumping classes ran way over so the babies had to stand tied to the
trailer from 10:30 until after 5:00 when we finally got to show. Talk about
some tired babies! It was worth it though!
Im Obviously Spotless and
Just Shy of Easter took 1st and 2nd
respectively in the 2 & under halter class. Then I took the babysitter,
Doc's Painted Maiden, in the 3 and
over halter where we took 1st of 9 entries. I was so excited as this placing
gave us enough points to finish out her PAC Certificate of Recognition!!! Boy
am I glad I pulled her out of the pasture and cleaned her up to show! The day
got better when Just Shy of Easter and Docs Painted Maiden placed 1st and 2nd
respectively in the Most Colorful class out of 8 entries. To cap things off
Docs Painted Maiden went back in to stand Overall Reserve Grand Champion for
the halter division. Wow! what a great day! Special thanks go out to Shon
Hines who handled Just Shy of Easter for me and to Beth and Pat for being
outstanding grooms, sliver cleaners, horse holders and babysitters. There's no
way I could have made it through the day without you guys!
|
 | 07/16/06 - Wow, it was HOT this weekend! I almost didn't show because of
the heat but I'm glad now that I did. Frosty and I had another great weekend.
We showed at the East Coast circuit show in Williamston earning 4 more PAC
points and finishing out our Certificate of Achievement. We placed first in
our halter class, stood Grand Champion for
the 2 & Under Halter Division, won the color class and Lunge Line class and
placed 2nd in the In Hand Trail. Whew, now to rest for a couple of weeks
before the next show!
|
 | 06/10/06 - Frosty and I had another good weekend at the East Coast Open
show in Williamston. She took first in her lunge line class, earning another
performance PAC point. Suzette led her to a 2nd place finish in trail. We also
had top placings in the halter classes.
|
 | 06/03/06 - We attended another Johnston County open show this weekend were
we once again won our 2 & Under class, won Most Colorful and stood Reserve
Overall Halter Champion.
|
 | 5/06/06 - We pulled to the Johnston County open show today where Frosty
won her 2 & Under halter class and went on to stand Reserve Champion Overall
in the halter division. She also won the Most Colorful class.
|
 | 4/27/06 - Precisette delivered a very classy looking filly today by Lucky
Skip Shy. We've named her "Im
Obviously Spotless". She is a solid and will be for sale, though we will
retain ownership through the futurities.
|
 | 4/23/06 - Frosty had a great show this
past weekend in Williamston. She won her very first Lunge Line class with only
a few weeks of prep work! Suzette led her in the in-hand trail class and she
won that as well. Then in halter she won both of her classes and stood
Grand Champion in the 2 & Under Division. She
finished the day with a 2nd of 18 in the most colorful class. She earned 11
PAC points in that one show! What a way to start her show career!
|
 | 4/15/06 - Maiden gave birth to the spittin' image of Skip today. She's a
stunning little FILLY with just enough face white to qualify for regular
registration!!! Check her out - Just Shy
of Easter
|
 | 4/10/06 - Candy, our draft x mare foaled a huge filly for us today. This
is our first Dollar baby!
|
 | 4/3/06 Sadly we had to put one of our best mares, Danzella, down due to a
cancerous tumor. She was a great producer for us.
|
 | Frosty has won her first blue! We took her to a hunter show just for
experience and she brought home her first blue ribbon for us. We got some
great pictures of her in braids.
|
 | We have purchased a new filly to show. I had to drive over 2200 miles to
bring her home and I think she's pretty special. Check out
A Frosty Brew.
|
 | September 9, 2005. Sorry I haven't updated lately, it's been a really
crazy summer. A lot has happened this summer. I'll touch on the important
stuff below:
- Lucky Skip Shy battled several health
issues all spring and we were finally forced to have him humanely put to sleep
- We suffered a house fire 2 days after we lost Skip. Fortunately we didn't
lose many personal items and we ended up with a largely remodeled house. After
3 months of living in a camper I am so thankful to be back in my house!
- We purchased a new mare for the broodmare band. She's a reining bred mare
named Loaded with Breanna. I'll try to get a page up for her soon
- On a good note, Sugar has had her best year yet in the show pen. She stood
2 & Under Halter champion at one of the East Coast shows and has won all of
her lunge line classes so far. We have one final show for the year, Sunnyside.
I'm also considering doing the State Fair.
|
 | April 25, 2005. We had a great show in Williamston on April 23-24. Sugar
and I competed in our first lunge line class where we took 1st place. Then in
the halter classes on Saturday night we took a 2nd out of a huge color class
(16 entries I think). We also took 2nd out of 11 in our 2 & Under Geldings &
Fillies class. We followed all that up with a respectable 4th place in our
first in-hand trail class. Suzette and Max had a great weekend as well, coming
home with a 1st, two 2'nds and Reserve Highpoint 2 & Under Champion.
